3D World gets new look to reflect latest trends
23rd February 2005
3D World, Future’s voice of the 3D industry has revealed its fresh new look. Reflecting changes in the creative industry, the magazine recognises the increasing importance of market sectors, including architectural visualisation.
The new look 3D World reinforces the magazine’s statement as the world’s only specialist monthly title for 3D artists, and also reflects reader’s increasing technical and artistic expectations for their own work.
Responding to readers’ needs, 3D World increases its page count and brings in a cleaner design, as well as a selection of new features and sections. The magazine introduces group tests of hardware for artists, alongside a comprehensive monthly buyer’s guide to 3D software packages. A legal and financial advice column for freelancers and independent studios, will guide smaller design outlets each month through the complex tasks associated to running their business.
3D World also reinvigorates a number of existing areas of the magazine– boosting the “hands on” tutorial and Q&A content to more than 30 pages, enabling it to cover more software packages. The news section is now known as ‘pre-viz’ and has been refocused to provide more opinion and market analysis from leading figures in the 3D industry than ever before.
Jim Thacker is Editor of 3D World:
"In this new format, 3D World reinforces its status as the only monthly magazine for 3D artists. Thanks to its increased length, expanded tutorial content, and broader coverage of the 3D market, the magazine is now an even more comprehensive resource for anyone with a serious interest in 3D art and animation.
"Since the first issue of the magazine, the 3D industry has evolved dramatically, with software that once cost over £10,000 now on sale for less than £300. With such powerful professional tools within the reach of every user, the quality of 3D art and animation is increasing rapidly. The new look of 3D World reflects our readers' artistic and technical aspirations."
On sale 1st March 2005, the new look, April issue of 3D World has features on the forthcoming movie Valiant – the UK’s first major 3D movie, and a lip-syncing tutorial from Aardman Animation. Software on the CD includes the Jenna V2.22 plug-in suite and facial motion capture software, Mimic Standard 2.1 for Poser, alongside Lightwave video training and textures - worth more than £500. The cover price of 3D World remains £6.00.
