Digital Home focuses on ultimate entertainment technology

4th September 2004

Future Publishing’s market-leading entertainment technology title Digital Home has unveiled its response to the enormous changes in this fast moving sector.

Digital Home is the only magazine dedicated to entertainment technology – the meeting of computing and consumer electronics in the world of digital entertainment. It offers a mix of computing and cutting-edge consumer electronics, through news, hands-on solutions and authoritative reviews. Uniquely, the title covers home cinema, hi-fi, media center PCs, mobile devices such as the iPod, and more.

Since launching two years ago many of the technological innovations first revealed by the pioneering Digital Home are now widely available on shelves and we’ve seen the soaring in popularity of wireless networking, portable video players and entertainment PCs. With this in mind, the new Digital Home is shifting its focus to buying the hi-tech kit currently available on the high street and getting the best from it, whilst keeping an eye on future developments, which include the long-awaited launch of High Definition TV in the UK and the introduction of the successor to DVD next year.

Following consultation with readers and advertisers Digital Home has introduced enhanced buying advice, including for the first time, a dedicated buyers guide to the best in entertainment technology.

Featuring a number of new sections, Digital Home magazine will now feature a monthly Top Ten of the latest and greatest kit and is kicked off by a rundown of the UK’s best plasma TVs, rated according to both price and performance. The magazine also introduces hands-on tutorials written by industry-leading experts, helping readers to set up and make the most of their kit.

A new Custom Install magazine-inside-a-magazine shows how you can to live the dream of a truly digital home when money is no object, showcasing the very best AV installations in a monthly supplement with true coffee table aesthetics.

Digital Home Editor Dan Hutchinson says:

“The new Digital Home magazine keeps us way out in front of our competitors. Much like the technology that we live for, we are always looking to stay at the cutting edge. Digital Home’s loyal readers and advertisers have influenced our new approach – with a wealth of new kit now on the market, tech-savvy consumers need a dedicated guide, and we are here to provide it.”

Publisher Stuart Anderton adds:

“Entertainment technology is revolutionising the way we consume media – music, film and TV. Hundreds of thousands of people are using advanced technologies like Sky+ and the iPod but there is no magazine out there telling them what they need to buy and how they can best use it. Digital Home is that magazine.”

The December issue of Digital Home magazine will feature a covermounted PC compatible DVD packed with exclusive high-definition video content – designed to take advantage of the superior picture quality offered by the latest TVs. The DVD will also offer a range of useful home entertainment applications including a full version of the popular Showshifter Personal Video Recorder software for the PC.

Digital Home, November 2004 (issue 18) goes on sale Thursday, October 21st, with a cover price of £4.
