FHM Reveals New Look

26th July 2004

FHM, the UK’s biggest selling monthly magazine, launches its new look September issue on 1st August 2004. The ‘new look’ FHM is based on ten months of consumer research and a dedicated focus from the editorial team to deliver the most exciting and relevant magazine product in the men’s monthly market.

FHM will continue to deliver it’s unique funny, sexy, useful formula, but new sections have been added to the magazine to reflect the broad interests of the market and to create a magazine that maintains its relevance as the lives of readers change. These creative developments have evolved through FHM’s ongoing commitment to refreshing the product and through the feedback from qualitative consumer research.

FHM’s new look front cover will feature new FHM logo usage. The logo will be bigger, bolder and more confident than ever before, underpinning the power of the FHM brand. Editorially, greater focus will be placed on the usefulness and interactivity of the magazine, with three key editorial innovations driving this forward:

Incoming will replace Reporter at the front of the magazine, with a focus on interactivity, stunning visuals and news relevant to the month of on-sale. A key innovation and media first is the FHM Wallplanner - a four page perforated pull-out highlighting the month’s key events and activities.

FHM’s new style section, Insider, will deliver a fresh approach to fashion editorial with clothes, cars and technology showcased alongside combined celebrity interview/fashion shoots and a distinctive use of images and photography.

The FHM Book of Lists will replace the previous music, film, and book review pages. The Book of Lists will showcase the top five or ten must-haves for FHM readers’ lives for the month of on-sale. The section will cover movies, books, fashion, grooming, holidays, motoring and beyond.

The launch of new look FHM will be supported by an extensive three-month marketing campaign including TV advertising around the September issue.

James Carter, Publishing Director of FHM says:

“FHM maintains its dominant position in the men’s magazine market through its commitment to refreshing and re-invigorating its editorial content on a regular basis. This ongoing development ensures we deliver the most relevant, quality content.

Interactive editorial properties like High Street Honeys and 100 Sexiest have generated unrivalled interest and redefined the men’s marketplace. Our ‘new look’ issue continues this innovative approach of delivery to our core audience of 18-34 year old men.”
