Future invests in Hi-Fi Choice as title bucks sector decline

Future has announced a renewed programme of investment for its long-serving home audio gospel, Hi-Fi Choice. The improvements and promotional activity follows the recent ABC success of the title, and its strong retail performance into 2005.
Hi-Fi Choice is the only magazine across the specialist hi-fi and home cinema sectors to have increased its circulation in 2004 (Jan-Dec). The sales rise makes it the only hi-fi title to have posted a sales increase since 2002. During the last ABC period, other audited titles in the sector suffered from circulation declines ranging between slumps of 4.9% and 11.4%. *
The veteran hi-fi magazine, which launched in 1975, has continued its strong performance in 2005, and has recently become WHSmith’s best-stocked specialist hi-fi title. Hi-Fi Choice is now available in 530 (96%) of the company’s high street stores, more than any other specialist hi-fi magazine. **
Future plans to continue the momentum of Hi-Fi Choice with an aggressive range of promotional and covermounting activities throughout the remainder of 2005. The company has also successfully implemented a continuing programme of editorial enhancement to Hi-Fi Choice; alongside an improved paper stock and cover finish to the magazine.
