Future Publishing celebrates one year of free mags up for grabs

Free magazine delivery scheme benefits Bath schools and surgeries.
Future Publishing is celebrating a successful first year for its popular charity magazine delivery scheme for local schools, surgeries and hospitals and is now looking for more local organisations to benefit.
Introduced last year – Future’s “mags up for grabs” project offers next-to-new Future Publishing magazines collected from the company’s offices to doctors’ and dentists’ surgeries, hospitals and community groups in Bath and its surrounding towns and villages.
Whilst the nearly new titles may be one issue too old to be displayed on magazine racks around Future’s offices, they are still very much up-to-date and can provide useful reading material on a wide range of subjects from computing to woodworking.
A range of suitable titles is donated to community groups on a case-by-case basis. Future’s magazines include PC Format, Microsoft Windows XP: The Official Magazine, Official PlayStation 2 Magazine, T3, Mountain Biking UK, Total Film, Total Guitar, Classic Rock, DuelMasters magazine, Cross Stitcher, Good Woodworking and the recently launched Hairstyle and Beauty.
One local organisation benefiting from the scheme is Culverhay School – which currently receives a monthly delivery of titles from Future’s computing, cycling and music portfolios, for its recently renovated library area.
Commenting on the success of the scheme, Claire Johncox, Project Manager says:
“The original idea of a magazine donation scheme was suggested by a Future employee and has been met with plenty of positive feedback from the community. Following a very successful first year we are now able to accept more applicants, hopefully helping to benefit additional organisations.
”Mags up for grabs helps everyone, and this is a great example of recycling into the community. With this scheme we don’t have to send so many back issues away for recycling in the traditional sense, instead educational establishments, charities, surgeries and other organisations benefit from a range of free, top-selling magazines across a wide spectrum of interests delivered on a regular basis.”
