PC Plus nets world exclusive full test of newest laptop technology
6th January 2005
Future’s flagship PC title grabs Intel’s Centrino 2 – first!
PC Plus, Future’s flagship computing magazine is proud to announce its world exclusive full lab test of Intel’s next-generation Centrino mobile technology – revealed in its February issue.
On sale 19th January – PC Plus will be the first magazine anywhere in the world to print its review and opinions of Intel’s next-generation Centrino technology, the same day as laptops based on it are launched internationally.
Laptops featuring the first wave of Centrino technology, launched in 2002 made waves in computing, finally offering users thin, light and mobile laptops, with built in wireless connectivity and prolonged battery life. The next generation of the technology promises to offer a number of new features and leaps in performance.
PC Plus was granted unparalleled access to fully equipped laptops featuring the technology from Samsung and Toshiba and was the first magazine to fully bench test the machines using its renowned performance tests. Rather than reprinting Intel’s press materials PC Plus has actually been able to get to grips with the technology and will reveal how it performs and what the next generation of Centrino really means to users.
Ian Robson is Editor of PC Plus:
“We are incredibly proud to be the first magazine on the newsstand with our performance tests and reviews of Centrino 2. This is a major coup for the magazine and is certainly not a half-hearted effort in order to be the first to the market. The technology has been subjected to the same rigorous tests as any other laptop we have reviewed. PC Plus has been at the forefront of breaking the major innovations in computing since launching back in 1986 and this world exclusive proves how we strive to remain one step ahead.”
The February issue of PC Plus also has features on the best office PCs for all budgets, how to protect your system from the latest security threats. The 212 page issue also includes a review of a powerhouse 3.8 GHz P4 system from Evesham, alongside more fantastic master class tutorials, helping you to get more from your PC.
The Popular PC Plus coverdisc features seven pieces of full-software worth over £250 – including Internet security software, BitDefender Professional 7.2 and Microsoft’s Visual J# Express Edition and the all-in-one media centre software, Showshifter 2.05
PC Plus (issue 226) goes on sale, Wednesday 19th January, with a cover price of £6.49 for the DVD superdisk version and £5.99 for the CD version.
