SFX adds support to SCI-FI-LONDON
1st December 2004
The UK’s best selling sci-fi and fantasy magazine SFXhas been announced as the official magazine sponsor for a major science-fiction film festival held next February.
Future Publishing’s SFX magazine is supporting ‘SCI-FI-LONDON’ – the fourth London international festival of science fiction and fantastic film – a festival running from Wednesday 2nd- Sunday 6th February. Attracting sci-fi fans of all ages the festival promises to deliver a winning mix of new movies, rare screenings and the UK’s first-ever back to back overnight screening of all 3 Matrix films and their animated prequel – Animatrix.
SCI-FI-LONDON also offers exclusive showings of sci-fi short movies – including the winners of “What If...?” a UK-wide competition for young filmmakers – judged by a panel of experts including SFX Editor Dave Golder. As official magazine sponsor SFX will be comprehensively covering ‘SCI-FI-LONDON’ in forthcoming issues.
Louis Savy is Festival Director of SCI-FI-LONDON:
“I’m delighted to have SFX magazine supporting this year’s festival. It’s a real coup as SFX magazine is the only genre title that deals with science fiction and fantasy in an all-inclusive and non-condescending way. Just like SCI-FI-LONDON, SFX openly invites interested outsiders into the fold. We’re working to secure some of the best sci-fi movies past, present and future, and with the support of SFX and our other sponsors SCI-FI Channel, MVC and Adobe, we hope to make this our greatest festival yet.”
Mike Lamond, Publisher of SFX says:
“Supporting SCI-FI-LONDON restates SFX’s commitment to the sci-fi industry and we think it’s a great festival. There are some brilliant and frankly bizarre movies on offer this year. The festival’s line up is designed to appeal to a vast range of tastes, not just the die-hard sci-fi fanatic, you really don’t have to want to dress up as a Klingon to appreciate sci-fi.”
